Histórica manifestación en Cork (Irlanda) contra los recortes en la educación

La actual crisis que sacude EEUU y Europa ha provocado un segundo despertar en la comunidad irlandesa, tras su negativa en el referéndum del Tratado de Lisboa, negado en el resto de Europa, que dice no a que su bolsillo pague lo que no ha ensuciado.
Tras la decisión del Taoiseach (Primer ministro) Brian Cowen, a la cabeza de Fianna Fail, de aumentar en un 67% la tasa a pagar por los estudiantes, dejándola en 1500 euros, el INTO (Irish National Teachers' Organisation – Organización Nacional Irlandesa de Profesores) ha hecho un llamamiento a padres e hijos para movilizarse y manifestarse ante una nueva decisión gubernamental que obligaría a pagar a justos por pecadores.
De ese modo, y habiendo marchado en el mes de octubre 40 000 pensionistas, estudiantes y profesores a lo largo de Irlanda, hoy sábado 22 de noviembre, y según fuentes oficiales, 25 000 personas se han dado cita para rodear el centro de Cork en un círculo que abrazaba las cinco principales calles de la ciudad.
No siendo posible ver principio ni fin en el momento de mayor expansión, las movilizaciones parecen llegar a un momento histórico en el que la voz popular dice no estar de acuerdo en que parte de los presupuestos de Cowen para el 2008 dirigidos a la educación, sean saqueados para cubrir una crisis creada por el sector bancario.
Se espera que en la gran manifestación nacional del 6 de diciembre en Dublín, vuelvan a alzar su voz unas 100 000 personas con un definitivo NO a que el sistema público consolide su derrumbe en beneficio de una clase corporativa cuyo pago de impuestos se reduce al 12,5% cuando no es cero.
